Welcome to Maria Fidelis Sixth Form and thank you for considering our institution as a place for your A level study.
Maria Fidelis Catholic School offers a small, friendly Sixth Form located in the heart of London. Easily accessible by rail, underground and bus, it is the perfect location for many of our students.
We are a very academic Sixth Form with a focus on traditional subjects. We expect students to commit to 15-20 hours per week of additional study outside of their lessons, and we have a dedicated Library and study centre in order for you to be able to do this. In our 2017 A-level results, our students achieved a 99% pass rate and 74% A*-C.
Students at Maria Fidelis are expected to undertake a minimum of two hours per week community service. With help from the Sixth Form team to organise this, community service can take the form of taking on the role of teaching assistants and mentors to the younger students, organising charity events, co-ordinating interhouse competitions, and volunteering.
In our 2016 Ofsted inspection, the school was rated ‘GOOD’ with the inspectors having the following to say about the Sixth Form: “Sixth Form students are…inspirational role models for younger pupils. Leaders ensure that students receive helpful training and support. Students…attend quiet study periods during the school week and are assigned academic mentors to support them to make the best use of this time. Students report that this routine is helping them to be more responsible, independent and successful Sixth Formers.”
We also offer a range of extracurricular activities, both in-house and through our partnerships with external providers, universities and charities. These include Deloitte, UCL, KCL, Urban Partners, Grant Thornton and Eurostar, to name but a few. In addition to this, we also have several partnerships with external parties who offer study space to us, including Eurostar, Virgin Trains, Google and The Guardian. As part of the FCJ school group, we aim to educate the whole person.
We are extremely proud to offer students a comprehensive work experience scheme and careers advice service with dedicated staff. This is designed to allow students to be as prepared as possible for their progression post A-Level.
Our Sixth Form team is extensive and dedicated to helping you get the best out of your studies. Academic and pastoral support mentors allow students to be supported in every facet of their study with us. We are dedicated to providing the support that is necessary for development and success.
There is also a bursary scheme to help students suffering from financial hardship to access school life as fully as possible. Eligibility criteria are broadly based on the family situation.
We hope this section of the website is informative and helps you to make your decision. The pages that follow give you more information about the subjects we offer. Please do not hesitate to approach a member of the Sixth Form team should you have any further questions, or contact us.
