Welcome from the Headteacher

Dear Parents and Carers

We are now entering the season of Advent, a time for quiet reflection in the expectation of the coming of Christ.  Pope Francis has said that as we progress through Advent “we walk to meet the Lord, to encounter Him with the heart, with life, with faith.”  In the coming weeks our assemblies and prayer time will focus on this key aspect of Advent.

We are also looking forward to our annual Christmas events, which include our Pensioners’ Party on the 8th December.  This year we are holding this at our Gower Street site as we have no kitchen facilities at Phoenix Road due to the building works.  We warmly invite all our parents and partners in the local community to join us for our Carols by Candlelight service in the Phoenix Road library.  This is always a lovely event followed by mulled wine and mince pies.  All are welcome!

Years 7 – 11 will be sitting formal exams before Christmas.  These will allow us to assess each pupil’s progress early in the year and plan interventions for any who are falling behind.  The Sixth Form will sit their mock exams in January.

Our new school building project is now well under way; the site in Drummond Crescent is in the process of being cleared and we will start to see our new building emerge from early next year.  We will post updates on the school website as the final plans are confirmed.
