Year 12 Art students went to visit the London Transport Museum on Thursday the 31st January. Students were researching the history of London Underground poster design as part of a project exploring the regeneration of Kings Cross
Today we held a Themed Day at the Gower Street site. We had a number of visiting speakers to the school including Deloitte, Explore, GAGV and Laing O'Rourke.
On Thursday 24th January 7C were lucky enough to have a visit from a published author. Sarah Holding, the author of ‘Seabean,’ introduced the students to the unique new genre of Cli-Fi (Climate change fiction). She gave a brief account of her own novel, why she chose to write for this particular genre and she provided the students with a unique opportunity to write their own Cli-Fli stories that were based on hers. The students were enthralled and produced some excellent work.
Aieseosa Eweka-Okera was selected to complete a week's work experience in the office of Camden MP, Sir Keir Starmer.
The week began with a tour of parliament followed by an introduction to Sir Keir Starmer and his team and a tour of Parliament. She also met with David Lammy MP for Tottenham, which left her feeling optimistic and confident that MPs truly cared about the people that they had been elected to represent.
In the morning of her third day at Parliament, she was invited to the House of Commons to watch the Prime Minister’s question time. Not only did she receive special side gallery seats but she gained a lot of knowledge about the process of exiting the EU which has enabled to understand the complex issues much better.
As always the year 8 retreats to Spec were a great success. Pupils enjoy spending the day at the Pinner centre as it gives them the opportunity to reflect and be still which is not always possible in the busy school day.
